Dear RAICES,

The Hampshire College Women's Center; having recentely undergone

major rennovations, will be holding a grand re-opening celebration/ openhouse

on Thurs. April 11th, from 4:30- 8:00 pm.

The grand re-opening will be a chance for the community to experience the new

women's center interior, as well as to learn more about the various programs

events and resources the center has to offer both students, faculty and

community members. There will be refreshements from 4:30- 5:30, and dinner

catered from 5:30- 6:30. At 7:00 we are pleased to announce that

poet, author Letta Neely will be doing a reading from her most recent book,

Here. Letta, is a nationally recognized black , dyke poet who's first book

Juba was a recipient of the Lambda Literary Award. Letta Neely is an amazing

woman, friend, ally and community member who will help the center usher in the

new energy of the space. We are writing to your organization to request your

aid in helping us fund this evening of events. We are asking for whatever

additional funding your group/organization may be able to offer in support of

Letta Neely's reading. Letta's event will cost approximately $1500; the Women's

Center is seeking any and all support you may have.

We look forward to hearing back from you. You can direct your response to Amelia

at ako99 at hampshire.edu.

Thank you for supporting the women's center in recognizing and
celebrating its first official rennovation and re-opening!

            Sincerely,
The Hampshire College Women's Center Staff
