Hello,

We’ve just been informed by the study abroad provider, CIEE, that they
will offer 1 Hampshire student a full scholarship to participate in
their STEM-based open campus block program in the Yucatan
<https://www.ciee.org/go-abroad/college-study-abroad/programs/mexico/yucatan/open-campus-block-stem-society>
and Monteverde, Costa Rica
<https://www.ciee.org/go-abroad/college-study-abroad/programs/costa-rica/monteverde/open-campus-block-stem-society>,
for the fall 2019 semester.  Key features of the program include:

·Students will have the opportunity to do classroom, laboratory and
field work in subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Math, Physical
Sciences, Biology, Environmental Science, Sustainability, and Conservation.

·The program is made up of 3 block periods (6 weeks per block) in which
students spend 2 blocks in one of the locations and the 3^rd block in
the other location.

·Students enroll in 2 courses per block.

·All content courses are taught in English.

·Though some Spanish would be helpful, none is required (Students can
choose to take Spanish language during the program).

Additional information is available in the attached flyer as well as
through CIEE’s website.  We hope you will help us get the word out to
students (as well as any relevant colleagues I may have missed) as the
deadline for us to nominate a student is APRIL 1^st . Students would
need to meet with Katie Irwin (kirwin at hampshire.edu
<mailto:kirwin at hampshire.edu>), director of global education, before
that deadline.

Please let us know if you have any students who you think may be
interested.  This would be a field study so students would also need to
complete a Course-based Field Study Application at Hampshire by the
April 5^th deadline.

Thank you,

Heather
