Hi all,

Would love to see you at the meeting tonight. Here's the agenda:

-Tadeas Zdarsky, an aspiring zero waste entrepreneur and exchange student
from Czech Republic/Slovakia, will present about his experience co-founding
a sustainability student group at his university including running a free
shop.

-Madhu will show the edited version of the video filmed last week promoting
the Recyclemania tournament 😂

-Emory will tell us more about how New Leaf can team up with Mixed Nuts to
help fundraise to supply bulk food items for those affected by the
aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

-Folks who attended the students for zero waste conference, hosted by the
Post Landfill Action Network (PLAN), in philly this weekend can share about
what they learned. Hampshire College is a member campus of PLAN, providing
us access to written guides for reducing campus waste, as well as discounts
on reusable products, and personalized mentor ship with our campus
coordinator, Adina. You can make an account here using your @hampshire.edu log
in and check it out!!

-We can finalize dates/speakers/films/publicizing for the November
events... & anything else anyone wants to bring up!

I realize this email is already fairly long, but when you have a chance
take a peek at this inspiring and powerful piece (shared by Kali Ransom):
"From Banks and Tanks to Caring Cooperation: A Strategic Framework for Just
Transition"
http://movementgen.electricembers.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/JT_booklet_English_SPREADs_web.pdf
"An economy based on a finite system faster than the capacity of the system
to regenerate will eventually come to an end- either through collapse or
our intential reorganization. Transition is inevitable, justice is not... A
Just Transition requires us to build a visionary economy for life...
strategies that democratize, decentralize, and diversify economic activity
while we damper down consumption and (re)distribute resources and power."

Thanks,
New Leaf Signers
