<span class=postbody>Amherst College seeks a highly skilled senior database
programmer to implement, develop and support the College&#8217;s administrative
enterprise resource planning system, Datatel. The senior database programmer
reports to the Director of Database Services and works closely with College
staff to evaluate needs and options, solve problems, and implement solutions,
including the design and development of custom applications where required. </span><br>
<br>
<span class=postbody>At Amherst College, Database Services is responsible for
the College&#8217;s administrative databases. This work includes: </span><br>
<br>
<span class=postbody>&#8226; maintaining the Datatel software along with the
server, storage, backup, and operating system it requires; </span><br>
<span class=postbody>&#8226; insuring an auditable access security protocol for
Datatel, its physical and technological environment, as well as the data the
College stores in it; </span><br>
<span class=postbody>&#8226; supporting a range of reporting options for the
campus community, ranging from automated reporting and self-service reporting
to one-time custom reports; and, </span><br>
<span class=postbody>&#8226; devising data interfaces to campus information
systems. </span><br>

<span class=postbody>The successful candidate will be highly collaborative,
creative, as well as experienced and interested in the data and reporting needs
of a wide range of administrative departments, including Admissions,
Advancement, Human Resources, Registrar, and Comptroller, among many others. He/She
will also be knowledgeable of emerging trends in technology and capable of
designing, implementing, and documenting new, strategic approaches to utilizing
these technologies in a college environment. </span><br>
