Dear Colleagues,

(1) Because the copies of the novel, My Name is Red, only recently arrived at Amherst Books (due to an uncharacteristic delay at the publishing house), we decided that we should postpone this session of our faculty seminar. It didn't seem fair to expect participants to read a 500-page book in under two weeks.

As it happens, this is not an altogether unfortunate turn of events, although we apologize for the inconvenience.

Among our plans for the spring is at least one event to be held in conjunction with a an exhibit at Smith College involving adaptations of the miniaturist's art:

"The Way I Remember Them: Paintings by Nusra Qureshi" (Feb 20-April 25)

We therefore tentatively plan to hold the seminar meeting early in the semester (details will follow).

PLEASE NOTE: Nat will be able to hold the texts at Amherst Books for a short time only. If you're planning to purchase a copy, please do so at your earliest convenience, before the books have to be returned to the publisher.

(2) Our film screening this week goes ahead as scheduled:

"Fahrenheit 451"
Franklin Patterson Hall
East Lecture Hall

Thursday 7:00 p.m.

Thank you very much for your understanding.
