<P align=left>The Massachusetts Center for the Book is the Commonwealth
Affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. Its founding
partners include the American Antiquarian Society, Boston Public Library, Five
Colleges, Inc., Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, Massachusetts
Foundation for the Humanities, and University of Massachusetts Amherst. We
sponsor programming that will expand the circle of Massachusetts
readers and stimulate widespread interest in the past, present, and future
of commonwealth book culture, emphasizing in all our work the central role
libraries play in a civic society.</P>
