"Werner Pfeiffer(censor, villain, provocateur, experimenter): Book-Objects and Artist Books"
Book Arts Gallery, Neilson Library (3rd floor), Smith College, Northampton, MA
April 1-July 31, 2008

Opening reception with the artist: Thursday, April 3rd, 4-6 pm, Book Arts Gallery

This retrospective exhibition of the work of artist, sculptor, and typographer Werner Pfeiffer features 39 book-objects, created from actual books, and 8 artist books, most of which engage the reader to manipulate them in a way other than by turning pages. At the opening reception, Pfeiffer will assemble his artist book "Out of the Sky: 9/11," his tribute to victims of the terrorist attack. The completed book is a model of the World Trade Center two towers that is nearly six feet tall.
