Sunday, April 17, 2005 Zea Mays Printmaking will be hosting the second
Edible Book Exhibit and Tea
in Western Massachusetts. Proceeds will help support an annual exhibition of
artists’ books to be
held this summer and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit The Food
Bank of Western
Massachusetts.

This year marks the Sixth International Edible Book Festival, which will
occur throughout the
world this April. People are invited to create books out of edible
materials. For this Tea all
works if art must be edible and have the spirit of the book in mind
(interpretations of the book
are welcome), and any consumable materials may be used. The edible books
will be exhibited at the
studio from 3-4pm. Tea is served and at 4pm the books are photographed and
then it’s dig in! Those
who create and exhibit edible books are welcome free of charge. Those who
come just to partake of
the imaginative creations are asked to bring a $5 donation.

Last year's Edible Book Tea was a huge success and we hope to expand on that
this year. So start
thinking about what kind of edible book you might want to make (remember to
bring a list of
ingredients, with title and artist), or just set aside the date to come
feast on books! Don't
forget to view the attached photos from last year's event at Zea Mays. Plan
to join us.

If you are interested in creating a book for the Tea, please RSVP to Carrie
Wilson at
cjs9371 at yahoo.com or Liz Chalfin. If you are interested in viewing and
eating books, please save
the date and join us on April 17 between 3 and 4pm.

Countries included in past years are Australia, Brazil, Canada, England,
France, Germany, Italy,
the Netherlands, Spain and Japan. teas have been held in many locations
throughout the U.S.
