Dear Colleagues,
As we prepare for spring break, I wanted to give you a quick update on our
events for the next month:
The Open Seminar will meet, as scheduled, to discuss Orhan Pamuk's novel,
_My Name is Red_.
If you need a copy of the book, you can obtain one from Amherst Books on
Main Street in Amherst.
(25 March, Emily Dickinson Hall, 7:00 p.m.)
We chose the aforementioned seminar topic in part as a pendant to an
exhibition currently running at Smith College:
"The Way I Remember Them": Paintings by Pakistani artist Nusra Qureshi
(Feb 20-April 25)
We had initially hoped to host a lecture by Ms. Qureshi at the beginning of
this month. Unfortunately, she ran into visa problems. However, we have just
learned that she will now in fact be able to visit the Valley. If it still
proves possible to arrange a lecture here, we will inform you at the
earliest opportunity.
Next installment in the film series, "Love and Books": 8 April (TBA)
Best wishes for a pleasant break,
Jim Wald
(for the Hampshire College Center for the Book)
