Dear Colleagues,

Greetings. We hope the new semester is off to a good start for you.

The Hampshire College Center for the Book, too, is about to begin its new
cycle of activities, starting this week.

SPRING FILM SERIES: LOVE AND BOOKS

€ Thurs., 19 February, 7:00 p.m.

³84 CHARING CROSS ROAD²

³a heartfelt story about two people from different ends of the world,
finding a passion they share books. Helene (Anne Bancroft) is a New York
writer with a knack for old, used books. She sends a letter to a small
British bookstore inquiring about some rare classics. Frank Doel (Anthony
Hopkins) answers her letter, and thus begins a correspondence that spans two
continents and two decades.²

(the perfect follow-up to the "Girl Printers" exhibit opening at Smith
College that afternoon)

Other tentative dates in the film series:

11 March, 8 April, 22 April

THE OPEN SEMINAR

€ 25 March: discussion of Orhan Pamuk's novel, _My Name is Red_

Unless stated otherwise, all the above events take place on Thursday
