Dear Colleagues,

We hope that the summer has treated you well and that the transition to the
new semester/autumn is a smooth and pleasant one.

We, for our part, are gearing up for another season of activity.

Here is an overview of activities this fall:

€ We are bringing back our "Dangerous Books" film series, with a few
changes. (This year, the films reflect the emphases in a course of the same
name.)

    * Sept. 25: "The Name of the Rose"
    * Oct. 23:      "Fahrenheit 451"
    * Nov. 6:       "Lolita"
    * Dec. 4: "The Ninth Gate"

We will continue to sponsor a film series in the spring.

€ Open Seminar (tentative dates; precise subject TBA)

    * Oct. 30
    * Nov. 13

€ We are also hoping to schedule several lectures or readings.

For details on all events, consult our calendar:

How to share your news and program schedules with others
    * And please remember: all subscribers are able to send announcements to
the list by addressing an e-mail to: Libri at lists.hampshire.edu

Some of you already avail yourselves of this opportunity, and we hope that
more of you will do so. We want to make this a valuable and lively community
resource.

    * You can also submit material for posting on the calendar directly on
the calendar page (just click on the "add event" button at upper right).

Finally, remember that the Massachusetts Book Awards ceremony will be held
at the Eric Carle Museum this Sunday at 4:30.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Best regards,
Jim Wald
