Apologies to all.
I know this spam, too, Dara, and I am as surprised as you to see it--no idea
how it ended up here.

I am sure no one in our group would knowingly forward this garbage to
anyone--least of all to an academic listserve.

As it happens, I had just sent a note to our internet coordinator, asking
her to look into the matter.  The College takes the issue of spam quite
seriously and will be especially concerned if spammers are now invading our
mailing lists.

I have already changed the default of the list to allow postings only from
member addresses.  After consultation with the Academic Computing staff, we
will take such other measures as necessary to maintain the integrity of the
list.
