<p style="font-size: 12.8000001907349px;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: TimesNewRomanPS;">What are the literary origins of <em>Fiddler On the Roof</em>, one of the most popular American musicals of all time? Marc Caplan will introduce us to <span>Yiddish</span>literature's most famous hero, </span><span style="font-family: inherit; color: #333333; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.3999996185303px;">T</span><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: #333333; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22.3999996185303px;">evye the Dairyman, as he negotiates the challenges of parenthood through encounters with the modern ideas of his independent daughters. How might Tevye's evolution provide a frame for interpreting shifts in Jewish culture over the past century, as well as the enduring complexity and universality of Sholem Aleichem's original vision?</span></p>
