Gideon, et al.,
Thanks for the update. I hear you're cooking tomorrow! I look forward
to it. I'm leading services at 6, so whoever is sending out the e-mail
please remember to include. It will be a less traditional drumming and
chanting service. Anyone w/ percussion is welcome to bring them along.

As for Trembling Before God, it's on April 2, so I would make the
request in Feb. to be safe. Can you do the entire amount? Let me know.

As for Tu b'shevat, we should all sit down and talk about that and
other events once the new semester gets started.

Also, I understand that you are putting together some kind of an
"instruction sheet" for the dinners, including kashrut guidelines. I'm
attaching the guidelines from the American University Kosher kitchen,
which may help. I'm also including a pdf with all of the various
kashrut symbols.

I am also going to create a sign to put outside the kitchen stating
what may and may not enter through the doors. What you're working on
would be more of a working document for the cooks, etc. OK?
Just want to make sure we're on the same page.

Finally, I'm going to do some kind of programming this semester on
multi-cultural ism and Judaism (ie. you don't have to be white and
Ashkenazi to be Jewish). I thought it would be great to connect the
Shabbat dinners to these sessions, ie. Sephardic, Persian, Ethiopian,
Ugandan (don't know what their food is), etc. How does this sound to
all of you?

If you like it, then I can work together with you on the schedule and
we'd need to get cooks who can handle it. One of the new cookbooks I
bought will help. We also have Jenny, a Persian Jew, on campus, who's
willing got cook.

Finally, some Shabbat we need to serve the leftover chicken from Rosh
Hashanah that's in the freezer. It should still be fine. Let's figure
out when and how to do it, since we don't have meat stuff yet. Nat
should definitely be in on that and all other kashrut meetings.

I'll e-mail you some possible meeting times via meeting wizard so we
can sit down soon.

See you tomorrow.

Shalom/Salaam,

So, starting this semester, Ficom has changed its policies such that we only
request money one month in advance. We've requested shabbat dinner money for
february, and money for Tu b'shevat. When is "Trembling Before God" showing? Do
we need to request the money now, or later?
You can email the circus people at CircusFolkUnite@gmail.com. The current

I don't know at this point if we'll be able to meet before you need to
put in the budget. So here are a few items I would like to see
included. Please let me know if you have any issues, questions, etc:
Passover seder: I would estimate 75 people (based on Rosh Hashanah).
Since we will need to get kosher for passover food, etc. I think you
need to budget $10 per person. If ficom gives you a hassle, I can talk
to them.
Passover food for the week: What did we budget last year? I would
think $500.
Tu b'shevat seder: If you want to do one I would budget 200
Purim: In addition to 5 college, we may want to do something on our
own. Maybe $150?
BTW, do any of you know who to contact at the Hamp Circus? We'd like to
have them at the 5C Purim celebration.
Trembling Before God - The film rights cost is $350. The speaker will
most likely be $500 plus travel. How much can you put in your budget
for this? If you could to $350 or more that would be great. I guess
the worst that could happen is that they'd give you less. Right?
I think that's it for now. Please reply and let me know that this is
all OK with you -or what changes you think need to be made.
B'shalom,
