Dear Dr. Rubinstein,
I'm reaching out as the Recruitment Manager for the Avodah Jewish
Service Corps [1], a year-long program for recent college grads that
provides the opportunity to build the foundations for careers, an active
Jewish community, and lifelong activism in social and economic justice
movements. We are currently seeking individuals 21-26 with a strong
interest in anti-poverty work and a desire to learn in an inclusive
Jewish framework. I believe students in your classes would be strong
fits for this opportunity!
Our Corps Members build real world expertise through work placements
with Avodah's partner organizations in Chicago, New Orleans, New York
and Washington, D.C. They contribute to our partners' work on crucial
justice issues such as immigration, hunger, education, public health,
and domestic violence while developing activist chops and Jewish social
justice insights through Avodah's trusted, innovative curriculum. During
the year, Corps Members live and learn in the dynamic Avodah community.
Home-cooked meals, late night conversations, and holiday celebrations
make living in the bayit (house) memorable and meaningful.
The program provides a monthly living stipend, travel allowance, health
insurance, and subsidized housing, in addition to a year of professional
and leadership development. After their Service Corps year, participants
will access activism, professional development, and Jewish opportunities
for life through the Avodah alumni community.
I want to support your students in developing their careers and engaging
in critical anti-poverty work. You can help me do so by forwarding this
message to students in your classes, and reaching out personally to any
students you think would be a particularly strong fit.
Interested students can reach out to me personally to discuss this
opportunity, and can access full program and application information at
avodah.net/serve [2]. Our next deadline is February 25th. We are also
holding an informational webinar on February 15th where potential
applicants can learn more about the Jewish Service Corps -- students can
sign up here to attend! [3]
This is truly a program that changes lives and shapes futures. I know
that right now, many seniors on your campus are wondering what they can
do to help create a more just America, or how to build a career that
makes a difference in people's lives. The Avodah Jewish Service Corps is
a perfect place to start.
Thanks so much,
Emily
