Good morning friends!
Too cold? Come warm your hearts and spirits with the JSU!
This week in the JSU:
-Wednesday @ 5:30 for Pizza and Conversation
-Due to the Hampshire Halloween festivities, we will not be celebrating
Shabbat in the Merrill living room on Friday!
On this day in Jew-ish history:
Beate Sirota Gordon was born today in 1923 to Augustine (Horenstein)
Sirota and Ukranian Jew Leo Sirota. Gordon was the only woman on the
team that created the post-WWII Japanese constitution. Upon being
accused of giving more rights to Japanese women than those given to
women in the U.S. Constitution, she replied, "Colonel Kades, that's not
very difficult to do, because women are not in the American
Constitution." In addition, she was a notable teacher of performing arts
and taught Yoko Ono. Although she passed away in 2012, her many legacies
live on!
Hoping your week is going well!
Much love, the JSU
