Dear Colleagues and Students,

Please attend and let anyone you know who might be interested about  
the presentation by Israeli artist Keren Katz on the History of  
Israeli Comics and Graphic Novels at the Institute for Holocaust,  
Genocide, and Memory Studies at the University of Massachusetts  
Amherst, 758 N Pleasant St. at Governors Drive, on Wednesday, Nov. 7th  
at 7 PM.

Katz is an Israeli cartoonist, poet, and comic historian who has  
spoken on the history of Israeli comics at a variety of colleges and  
universities She is a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and  
Design in in Jerusalem, Israel, where she studied with the Israel's  
foremost graphic novelist, Rutu Modan (Exit Wounds) and of the MFA  
Illustration as Visual Essay program at the School of Visual Arts.



Katz's illustrations have been published by New York Times, Brooklyn  
Rail, Smoke Signal, BLAB!, Locust Moon Comics, Carrier Pigeon, Scrawl  
Magazine and Seven Stories Press. Her drawings of Uncontested Spaces,  
a series of guerilla poetry readings in the Museum of Modern Art  
galleries hosted by the museum's poet laureate, Kenneth Goldsmith,  
will be on exhibit at Kelly Writes House, University of Pennsylvania.



A poster is attached and pasted in below. Katz will also be speaking  
in my Comic Art class at 10 am that morning, in Morrill Science Ctr.
