ON THURSDAY

12n "Joy in the Embrace of the Unknown" Spiritual Journey Lunch with Alum
Rabbi Justin Goldstein, GE HOUSE OFFICE

For his Div III, Justin did an original translation and commentary on much
of Genesis called "The Essential Genesis." He will be speaking in the
evening on the Ethics of Food:

6p The Ethics of Food, East Lecture Hall FPH

Justin became active in what has been called the "Jewish Food Movement" and
spent his final year in seminary as the Rabbinic Fellow for Hazon, North
America's largest Jewish environmental organization. Since 2007, Justin
has spent many hours researching and investigating a response to Genetic
Engineering rooted in Jewish law. Teaching and writing regularly on issues
of GE and environmental sustainability, Justin finds the Jewish legal
approach to debate, where all viewpoints can be presented, respected and
accepted even as they contradict, to be a valuable way to confront any
controversial topic. As a 2012-2013 fellow in Rabbis Without Borders,
Justin has been significantly influenced to believe that Jewish wisdom
should be entered into the global marketplace of ideas and is a relevant
and positive source for inspiration for many, not Jewish communities alone.
