"'Thou Shalt Not Make False Idols': A New Approach to Contemporary
Jewish Art"
Ben Schachter, Associate Professor of Art, Saint Vincent College
Monday November 7, 4:30pm
Neilson Browsing Room, Smith College
This talk is sponsored by the Program in Jewish Studies and the
Department of Art at Smith College
Ben Schachterâs work integrates Jewish law and contemporary art. He
sees a connection between the rules conceptual artists created to guide
and limit their work and ancient traditions and rules regarding creative
activity.
