[Jewish] Donna Devine to give annual Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Lecture this Sunday 11/1

The Annual Yitzhak Rabin Memorial lecture will be given this Sunday 
November 1 at 1:30 pm at the Jewish Community of Amherst by Professor 
Donna Divine.  In her talk, entitled "Mishnah Impossible: Zionist 
attempts to Transform the Meaning of Jewish Identity," Prof. Devine will 
discuss what the Zionists had in mind when they created the Jewish state 
and how that has changed since Israel was founded.  Prof. Divine is the 
Morningstar Professor of Jewish Studies and Professor of Government at 
Smith College. She has recently returned from a research trip to 
Israel.  A question and answer period will follow.
 
The event is free and open to the public.  Complimentary refreshments 
will be served.
