I just got this email from the five college hillel rep at Smith, and am passing
the information along to the rest of you. It sounds interesting, and I urge
anyone who can to come.

Next Thursday the 26th at 7pm in Stoddard Auditorium, Hillel will be
hosting an event about the Abayudaya Jewish community in Mbale Uganda.
Mr. Aaron Kintu Moses, headmaster of the Abayudaya Primary School,
Director of education and acting spiritual leader will tell the
inspiring story of this courageous 700 member Jewish Community
(established in 1919) and their struggle to maintain their Jewish
identity in largely Christian and Moslem Uganda. Mr. Kintu Moses will
present an upbeat, multimedia program celebrating Jewish diversity,
sharing the latest news about the two Kulanu supported schools in
Uganda, serving rural Jewish, Christian and Moslem children studying
together in peace. He will also speak about new sustainable development
efforts in child hunger, health education, adult literacy, tourism, fair
trade organic coffee, clean drinking water, electricity, a Hebrew loan
society and more.

>> Stoddard Auditorium is kind of on route 9. If you're coming from
downtown Northampton, you'll see a St. Mary's (or... someone...) church
on the right, and just bear to the right at the fork-type thing (you'll
see a blinking yellow light in front of College Hall), and it's a big
building on the right side of the street that says Chemistry on the top.
If you see the white Alumnae House, you've gone a few feet too far. Via
PVTA, be on the side of the street that's not JMG Hall, and just
continue towards downtown until you see Stoddard.
