Hi Students,

I'm really sorry to bring up the High Holidays so early but soon most of
you will leave campus without giving me feedback about holiday planning,
which I work on throughout the summer.

Many of you know that the student leadership is reticent to have a student
rabbi again for High Holidays. It was an overwhelming amount of work, and
the end result was not reflective of the religious community at HC.

MHC will be leading its one evening services for Rosh HaShanah and Yom
Kippur, and then joining UMass for a liberal morning service. We would
love you to join us. Typically, I train a hazan (cantor) and torah and
haftorah readers, and we lead the service and discussion together.

How would you like to join MHC for the evening service? We could share a
meal at the Kosher/Halal Dining Hall and then lead services together. If
enough support this idea, I would like at least one volunteer who can sing
some prayers and another who could offer some thoughts during the evening
service.

Rabbi Saul from UMass and I are in the process of planning the morning
services. We are completely open to your suggestions. Currently, we are
thinking about UMass leading the morning service, MHC and HC organizing
and reading the Torah, and then I would lead a break-out group in an
interactive discussion.

If you like this idea, I would like to have at least two Torah readers
from HC to join two readers from MHC. I will train you over the summer!
Also, let me know if you would like to work with me on the interactive
discussion!

Please share your thoughts with me! Please volunteer! Wishing you a
wonderful e0nd of the semester. Shalom, Rabbi Lisa
