[Jewish] last minute but worth it stuff

Dear Everyone,
I know this is really short notice but expert zoologists have ranked both 
events as 5+ barrels of monkeys worth of fun.

1.  Tonight from 7 to 9, like every Wednesday, the 5 college Beit Midrash 
(house of study) program will be on at the Hillel house (in the conference 
room -
go down the circular corridor on your right when you come in the main entrance)
at UMass.  Come learn anything you want from esoterica to minutiae.  Plus 
there's a good chance I'll be coloured trying to write on a whiteboard, always 
entertaining.

2.  This weekend is Edah's 4th international conference in NY.  Edah is a 
modern orthodox organization (www.edah.org for more) that once a year throws 
this scholarly bash on issues facing the Jewish world.  There are probably 
rides still available to NY (good opportunity to see Christo's gates in Central 
Park while you're in town), but you do have to sign up both for the conference 
(at the website) and the rides.  The conference costs money but there might be 
financial aid available if you act fast.
