<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_extra"><div>It is against Massachusettes Law and Hampshire College's Policy to smoke indoors or to tamper with smoke detectors. When CoordBoard gets the power to alter state law, Town Meeting may be a place to discuss alternative solutions. Town Meeting is a venue where students are empowered to participate in the crafting of policies that effect their daily lives. This includes policies regarding the sanctions that follow violation of the law. There is an infinite amount of possible sanctions. I can't image how a Town Meeting on this topic could be more empowering. </div>
<div><br></div><div>Please realize that Town Meetings that cover "controversial topics" will always render a minority of student's disgruntled. This however, does not warrant a public apology from CoordBoard or even an email from Accountability Board. </div>
<div><br></div><div>Attached is the image of the poster to which you refer. Though the colors of the poster are also that of the colors on the American Flag, it is categorically untrue that the American Flag is present on the flyer. Though CoordBoard will not print in color again, it is unreasonable to assert that we are not to use colors that may appear on flags across the world. </div>
<div><br></div><div>Lastly, the need for a facebook event is not necessary as there is a facebook page dedicated to the advertising of town meeting. If you truly have been getting enough complaints to warrant an email to CoordBoard, clearly our advertising has been effective. </div>
