They are trying a new model this year without 2 HSU people replacing the 5 students from each academic school. </div><div><br></div><div>So far, there has been no student representation on EPC. Dear CoordBoard and Scope Group on Academics,<br>
I am co-facilitating the Educational Policy Committee (EPC). As you
know, this is an important governing committee for the college.
Until this year's experiment, EPC had student members appointed by
school according to school membership. In discussions last year,
students stated that they did not feel they could adequately
represent students since they were not connected to HSU. They felt
they were redundant with faculty members of EPC who also represented
schools, as they had no way to talk with students. They suggested
that having 2 committed students from the student governing body
would go much further in representing student ideas than having 5
students who were all members of schools. We agreed and decided on a
2 year pilot with 2 students elected/selected through HSU.<br>
So far this year, there has been no student representation on this
major college committee.<br>
Is there any way I can be helpful in recruiting student members?<br>
We meet again tomorrow at 3:30 in Cole 121 (or 101, depending on
which numbering system you subscribe to :)<br>
