>> Fellowships Open Doors for Students

The opportunity to receive a fellowship in law school typically blends two factors most students value – the chance to gain hands-on experience while also receiving tuition assistance. At the University of Cincinnati College of Law our full list of fellowship opportunities is much longer than many might expect. The range is broad, and stretches from real estate development in New York, to spending a summer with an international NGO dealing with human rights, to advising clients of one of the top startup business accelerators in the nation. The list goes on into other areas including criminal law, law and psychiatry, and summer public interest positions around the globe. In addition, we assist students with applying for some of the most prestigious post-graduate fellowships in the nation. Read more at www.law.uc.edu/fellowships

>> CNN Coverage of Ohio Innocence Project

Last month CNN highlighted five "headline-making exonerations" including former Akron, Ohio police captain Douglas Prade who received assistance from the University of Cincinnati College of Law's Ohio Innocence Project. As the primary component of the Rosenthal Institute for Justice, the Ohio Innocence Project (OIP) has freed 16 wrongfully convicted people since its founding in 2003. Through the work of UC Law students and staff attorneys, OIP seeks to identify prisoners who are innocent of the crimes for which they were convicted, and then fight to get them released from prison and fully exonerated. Read more at www.cnn.com/2013/12/05/justice/five-convicted-prisoners-exonerated/

>>  Indigent Defense Clinic

The thrill of delivering your first opening statement. The satisfaction of helping those in need. The challenge of sharpening trial skills that will broaden your career. All before you take the bar exam. A block away from Cincinnati's Hamilton County Courthouse, the Indigent Defense Clinic  allows third-year law students to represent criminal defendants in a  client-centered approach. Many students cite the clinic as one of their best experiences in law school. Read more at www.law.uc.edu/current-students/practical-experiences/indigent-defense-clinic

Trying to find information on employment data for law school graduates? Want to see how much students are borrowing at public law schools versus private ones? These questions plus many more can be answered quickly on the American Bar Association's Statistics page. Compiled from data submitted by all ABA-accredited law schools, prelaw students and their advisors have access to a wealth of information. Read more at www.americanbar.org/groups/legal_education/resources/statistics.html

>> New Faculty Member Kimberly Breedon "Pays it Forward" By Returning to UC Law

Professor Kimberly Breedon is one of the newest members of the law school's faculty. A graduate of the College of Law, she states that it is a "real privilege" to return to teach at the school she enjoyed so much as a student. A native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Breedon's professional experience combines the law and linguistics. Learn more at www.law.uc.edu/news/kim-breedon

>> Marion Haynes Works to Steer the Queen City in the Right Direction

Marion Haynes '06 works as the Zoning Hearing Examiner for the City of Cincinnati. He was drawn to UC Law not only for the quality of the education he would receive here and the affordability, but also for the urban experience. "Growing up in the suburbs and studying in a college town, I was ready to live in a walkable, urban city," he said. "Cincinnati seemed perfect for that. Not too big, not too small." Read more at www.law.uc.edu/news/marion-haynes
