Last month CNN highlighted five "headline-making exonerations" including former Akron, Ohio police captain Douglas Prade who received assistance from the University of Cincinnati College of Law's Ohio Innocence Project. As the primary component of the Rosenthal Institute for Justice, the Ohio Innocence Project (OIP) has freed 16 wrongfully convicted people since its founding in 2003. Through the work of UC Law students and staff attorneys, OIP seeks to identify prisoners who are innocent of the crimes for which they were convicted, and then fight to get them released from prison and fully exonerated.
