Dear Carin,

We are writing to let you know about a format upgrade to the LSAT for
the upcoming testing cycle. This change will impact how we present some
questions to the test taker. The purpose is to make the LSAT more
accessible to test takers with disabilities who need assistive
technology, such as a screen reader.

In the past, when the answer to a question is an exception or something
that fails to satisfy a condition, we presented key terms in the
question with capitalized letters. For example, “Which one of the
following CANNOT be true?”

Starting with the August administration, these terms will be presented
in *lowercase bold*. For example, “Which one of the following *cannot*
be true?”

LSAC’s Assessments team conducted a study before the change from the
capitalization convention to the bold convention was decided. The study
found that the format change does not impact item performance or scores.

To help test takers familiarize themselves with the new format, we will
make nine _LawHub

practice tests available that follow the bold convention. This includes
the four practice tests that are part of the free LawHub subscription,
as well as an additional five practice tests included in the _LawHub
Advantage subscription

The new format can only be accessed on newly started tests and will be
available by July 8.
