4/9   INFO SESSION W/ HUMAN RIGHTS ORG WITNESS FOR PEACE

INTERESTED IN IMMIGRATION, US POLICY IN CENTRAL AMERICA, HUMAN RIGHTS OR
SOLIDARITY WORK?  COME LEARN ABOUT WITNESS FOR PEACE AND OPPORTUNITIES
TO PARTICIPATE IN THEIR IMPORTANT WORK HERE IN NEW ENGLAND AND IN LATIN
AMERICA!

Alice Levine (71F) and Susan Letendre (Director of Witness for Peace New
England) will be leading an information session on Thursday, April 9
from 4:00 to 5:30 at CORC (3rd floor Library). All interested students,
faculty, staff, and friends are invited!

This past January, Alice participated in a delegation to Honduras with
Witness for Peace, which inspired her to come back to Hampshire to share
her experiences about what she saw and learned there, including the
devastating impact on families whose relatives immigrated to the U.S.,
land-grabbing, extreme poverty, and oppression. Alice will share her
experience on the WFP delegation to Honduras and talk about
opportunities to go on delegations to Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico,
Colombia, and Cuba. Susan will be available to talk to students about
upcoming internship opportunities with WFP New England, most of which
can be done from campus, with occasional face to face meetings. Alice
and a CORC counselor are happy to talk with students about how they
might integrate a WFP delegation or internship into their division II or
III work. Alice and Susan will also have information about a current job
opening as an international team member of the Honduras/Nicaragua team
and how work with WFP has been an important part of the career path of
those interested in international solidarity or human rights work.
