coordinate a program that will assist legal permanent residents (LPR) to
apply for U.S. Citizenship and to prepare for the Citizenship
Exam/interview.  This position is connected to a grant from the U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), in partnership with MA
Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA).

*Citizenship Legal Coordinator*

Title:                Citizenship Legal Coordinator

Program:          Center for New Americans

Supervisor:      Citizenship Program Coordinator

Rate:                $15.25 per hour, pro-rated benefits

Hours:             20 hours per week.

Center for New Americans seeks creative, experienced candidates to
coordinate a program that will assist legal permanent residents (LPR) to
apply for U.S. Citizenship and to prepare for the Citizenship
Exam/interview.  This position is connected to a grant from the U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), in partnership with MA
Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA).

Qualifications:

   - Bi-lingual English/Spanish highly preferred
   - Experience or knowledge of U.S. Citizenship process
   - Experience or knowledge of adult learning and teaching English to
   speakers of other languages
   - A willingness to learn
   - Reliable transportation

Specific Responsibilities:

·         Serve as liaison between CNA Citizenship applicants and legal
oversight representative at the MIRA Coalition

·         Staff remote screening and application services at workstations
in partnership with MIRA.

·         Complete intake forms to gauge and document LPR status and
preparedness for the citizenship exam.

·         Act as a bridge between CNA’s citizenship instruction and MIRA’s
naturalization application service.

·         Work with ESOL teachers, CNA's Volunteer Coordinator, and
volunteers to provide effective citizenship instruction services to
eligible LPRs.

·         Train ESOL teachers to incorporate any new practices into CI
curricula

·         Train and supervise tutors to offer small-group instruction and
1-on-1 CI for students not in ESOL classes, or for LPRs (e.g., with low
literacy/educational levels) who need individualized instruction.

·         Create Best Practices guides for special topics such as running
multi-level classes, training ESOL/CI tutors for 1-on-1 coaching, and other
areas

·         Assist with processing of G-28s for approximately 20 N400s per
month

·         Track client information for USCIS program
