Legal Administrative Assistant [SPT-03]
American Civil Liberties Union Foundation
Speech, Privacy and Technology Project, NY
The American Civil Liberties Union Foundation (ACLU), founded in 1920,
is a nationwide, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, with more than
500,000 members and is dedicated to the principles of liberty and
equality embodied in the Constitution. The Speech, Privacy and
Technology Project of the ACLU's National office in New York City seeks
applications for a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant.
OVERVIEW
The Speech, Privacy and Technology Project (SPT) is part of the ACLU's

The Speech, Privacy and Technology Project is dedicated to protecting
and expanding the First Amendment freedoms of expression, association,

civil liberties are enhanced rather than compromised by new advances in
science and technology. The project is currently litigating cases and
conducting other advocacy efforts on a variety of issues, including
political protest, freedom of expression online,

freedom, and openness in the courts.
The Legal Administrative Assistant provides administrative support for
the Project's cases and other activities. The position provides an
opportunity to learn about current threats to human rights and civil

education documents.
-Conduct Internet and other factual research and collaborate with
attorneys in preparing background memoranda on selected policy issues.
-Handle travel arrangements.
-Complete other administrative duties as assigned, including, but not
limited to, copying, mailing, scheduling meetings, and managing meeting
logistics.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelor's degree and/or 1-2 years related experience preferred.

-Must have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
-Must be able to work independently as well as within a team.
-A demonstrated interest in human rights and civil liberties issues
relating to free speech, privacy, and science/technology is preferred.
-Commitment to assisting the ACLU in its mission to defend civil
liberties and
human rights.
