Amid a treacherous job market, big law firms are putting pressure on law 
schools to shift their focus from intensive research to more hands-on 
training, noting that their clients are no longer willing to pay for

Gonzaga hires Jane Korn as dean

Gonzaga University School of Law has hired Jane B. Korn to be the 
school’s next dean. Korn is currently the vice dean and the John D. 
Lyons Professor at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of 
Law, where she has been since 1986. Korn will become the Law School’s 
first female dean on July 1.

The University of Miami School of Law launched their latest program, 
LawWithoutWalls, last week in London, England. The program brings 
together 23 students from six law schools in the U.S., England and China

Part-time lawyers continue to be the exception

Legal Sector still lags in job growth

While the U.S. economy has seen a steady gain of jobs over the past few 
months, the legal sector is still lagging. According to the new jobs 
report, released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the legal sector 
shed 1,000 jobs in December.

classes, ages, and racial backgrounds have created sharp declines in

according to a joint study by the Pew Research Center and TIME Magazine 
released in late last year.
