Description:
Juvenile Law Center (JLC) is a non-profit, public interest law firm
which advances the rights and well-being of children in jeopardy. See

The paralegal is responsible for providing support to JLC’s litigation
docket, including its amicus curiae and appellate docket. Cases arise in
state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and elsewhere in the country.
In addition to traditional paralegal duties, the paralegal will also be
asked to provide administrative support in JLC's general program areas.
There is also a clerical component to this position. Duties will include:

1. Litigation related tasks including
• Assisting on brief production (including cite checking, generating
table of authorities and table of contents, and ensuring that brief
format complies with requirements of local court rules)
• Maintaining internal brief bank
• Drafting brief descriptions of cases for posting on JLC website
2. Scheduling and preparing materials for various groups and committees
chaired by JLC attorneys
3. Scheduling and preparing materials for various trainings that JLC
staff delivers
4. Preparing updates on various JLC projects for posting on the website
5. Tracking selected project outcome data to include in reports to
project funders
6. Responding to calls/emails that JLC receives via its information and
referral line
7. Providing back up to case manager and web master as needed

Additional duties may include:

1. Recruiting, interviewing, training and supervising college interns
2. Providing updates on issues involving JLC’s clientele to staff
attorneys and executive director;
3. Providing content for JLC’s website;
4. Sharing telephone reception, clerical and administrative tasks as
needed, and
5. Other duties as assigned.
Additional Qualifications:
One to three years experience. College degree and a committed,
"pitch-in" attitude. Excellent research, writing, organizational and
inter-personal skills, enabling the candidate to manage inter-agency
conflict and multiple priorities.
