LIFT - Legal Information for Families Today

Positions Available: 1

LIFT is an award-winning, innovative non-profit organization that offers
one-of-a-kind services to some of the City's most vulnerable families as
they advocate for themselves through the Family Court system. We seek a
one-of-a-kind Outreach Volunteer to help us reach out to families across
New York City and spread the word about the helpful services at LIFT.

The Outreach Volunteer is a part-time position with flexible hours, and
reports directly to the Director of Policy, Education & Training. S/he
will play a critical role in the organization by ensuring that families
and communities throughout New York City connect with LIFT’s valuable
programs.

Responsibilities may include:

• Distributing information about LIFT at locations across New York City
including courts, libraries and health clinics.
• Staffing tables at community fairs and providing attendees information
about LIFT
• Helping to conduct presentations about LIFT at community organizations
• Reaching out to partner organizations to ensure that they have the
most up-to-date information about LIFT
• Conducting research to help determine additional places and strategies
for outreach
• Creating new and compelling outreach materials

Hours Per Week: flexible

Compensation:
MetroCard - otherwise unpaid

Application Deadline: ongoing

Desired Start Date: June 8, 2009

Duration: Two months

Other Times Position Is Offered:
Fall semester, January term, Spring semester, Summer, Flexible and
negotiable

Qualifications:

• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Creative
• Broad understanding of how to reach communities
• Basic computer skills
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to work well independently and part of a team
