Please attend the legal studies candidate talks this week! Your
feedback is critical to the search committee, which plans to
deliberate on the candidates this week and make a recommendation to
the School of Social Science for hire for this PERMANENT position. We
urge you to make an effort to attend the last two presentations,
coming up this Monday (Dec. 4) and Wednesday (Dec. 6). Students can
also meet with the candidates informally at noon in the faculty
lounge (lunch available!) each of those days.

On Monday, JENNIFER HAMILTON, an anthropologist who received her Ph.D. at
Rice University, and is interested in indigeneity and the production of
difference in the courtroom, and especially in the legal, social, and
ethical implications of biomedical research and its implications for tracing
slave and American Indian ancestry, will be talking at 4pm in the FPH
faculty lounge.

On Wednesday, DIANA YOON, who is receiving her Ph.D. in the law and society
program at NYU, will be on campus for interviews. Her talk is: "Between
Refugee and Citizen: Wartime Children of Soldiers and Formations of
Inclusion and Exclusion in US Citizenship.' Also at 4pm, FPH Faculty Lounge.

Hope to see you at the talks!
Flavio Risech,
Search Committee chair
