The Hampshire College Law Program invites you to a Law Lunch with
Phillip Kassel, senior staff attorney with Massachusetts Correctional
Legal Services, speaking on "How A Pedophile Priest's Death Sparked
Attention to the Need for Prison Reform in Massachusetts".
Mr. Kassel is a longtime advocate for the rights of prisoners to be
treated fairly and humanely while incarcerated. He will examine the
recent brutal murder of convicted pedophile priest John Geoghan by a
fellow inmate in a Massachusetts state facilty, how this event has
drawn attention to long-standing problems and inhumane conditions in
the correctional system, and what the present prospects are for
prison reform advocates.
Lunch will be served. The Law Lunch will take place in the Merrill
House Living Room from 12:00 noon until 1 pm. Please join us.
For the Law Program,
Flavio Risech
