Hampshire Law Program Human Rights Film Series
presents its final screening of the spring
semester: Patricio Guzmán's "The Pinochet Case"
(109m, 2001), in FPH Room 102 at 7pm Tuesday
April 27. Pizza and refreshments provided.
The film is a gripping documentary account of the
arrest of former Chilean dictator and
Senator-for-Life Augusto Pinochet in London in
1998, the legal case for his extradition to Spain
to face criminal prosecution for crimes against
humanity (including the brutal torture, murder
and disappearance of thousands) during his
US-supported coup and reign of terror in Chile
1973-1989, and his eventual return to face
charges in Chile after being stripped of the
immunity he had granted himself.
