Hi all,
This is a bit of short notice, but I have just been notified of a
document change skill share and support gathering happening at Smith (I
think) tomorrow evening from 6-8pm. The event was shared with me by one
of my professors, so I have pasted the information I received about it
below. I do not have much information beyond what is below, however I
believe the professor who shared this event with me is involved with
organizing and may be able to field questions. So if you have questions,
reach out to me and I can relay them or put you in contact with my
professor.

Take care of yourself and stay hydrated.
all the best,
fionn (they/them)

Trans Document Change Skillshare and Support Gathering

Lilly Hall - Smith College School for Social Work
23 West St, Northampton, Massachusetts 01063
Nov. 29 6-8pm

This event will be held in the second floor conference room in Lilly
Hall at the Smith College School for Social Work The room is
wheelchair accessible.

In light of the recent election, we want to come together for support,
solidarity, and action. Who knows what trans rights will be taken away
under the new Republican-dominated government. Now is a critical time
for trans people to legally change names and gender markers on their
documents, if you can.

We will have folks available with experience navigating the various
forms and requirements (e.g. state court name change; US Passport;
Social Security; driver's license; birth certificates) although we
can't guarantee they'll know every state or federal form.

We recognize and mourn that the ability to have a legal gender marker
that reflects one's gender is a binary privilege, and also a financial
one. See below for our fundraising link to raise money for legal
document changes.

We will also have some writing reflection prompts for those who want
to process feelings and experiences on paper.

Bring:
A laptop if you have it
Your own expertise
A snack to share (with ingredients labelled for those with allergies)
A financial donation if you are able - we will be raising funds to
help support document changes (stay tuned for a link)

We'll provide some laptops and a printer to use for forms

Allies welcome, especially those who have experience navigating these
kinds of documents.

In order to be accessible to all members of our community, please be
fragrance free. The school uses unscented soap and cleaning supplies.
For any questions about the school's current level of fragrance,
message Toby. If you need support or suggestions in ways to be
fragrance free for this event, feel free to post on the event or
message the organizers.

Transportation: there is parking available in the campus parking lot
on Green Street - parking is free in white-lined spaces after 5pm

We are looking to hold another of these events in Springfield soon!
