Info Session: Kenchreai Archaeological Excavation<br>
Monday, February 4 @ 4-5pm</b><br>
Interested in participating in an archaeological dig in Greece this
summer? Come to an information session to find out more information
about applying to this program. This is an amazing opportunity not to
miss! Kenchreai is an interdisciplinary research project that brings an
international team of archaeologists, art historians, anthropologists,
and geologists together to unearth artifacts in what was the port area
of the ancient city of Corinth. Hampshire College will select one
student for this honor to take part in the ongoing Kenchreai
Excavations this summer. Students who currently receive Hampshire
need-based financial aid are eligible to apply for financial aid to
offset program costs.<br>

Come speak to an IES representative visiting campus! Since 1950, The
Institute for the International Education of Students has provided
students and U.S. colleges and universities with high-quality academic
study abroad programs and internship opportunities that foster
intercultural development. Their wide variety of programs are good
opportunities for language learners of any level, and combine language
learning, academic courses, and in some cases internship or volunteer
work placement. IES also offers both need-based and merit scholarships
for students on their programs. They have programs in Argentina,
Australia, Austria, Chile, China, Ecuador, England, the European Union,
France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, New
Zealand, South Africa and Spain.<br>

<b>SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES FOR GOING ABROAD</b><br>

<b>Multinational Course: International LGBT Human Rights</b><br>
(July 14, - August 4) The University of Maryland is offering a 3 week,
3 credit course on International LGBT Human Rights. The course will be
based one week each in Washington, D.C, Geneva and Stockholm, the site
of this year's EuroPride celebration. Students will examine the current
international human rights framework from the perspective of the legal
and political challenges encountered in extending human rights
protections to at-risk, LGBT (and same-sex-practicing) communities.
Students participating on the summer study abroad course may request
assistance with locating an internship in Washington, D.C. before the
start of the course. Students may register through UM's summer school
with the proper prerequisites. No guarantee of a placement is provided.

Three-Month Internship Placement in Spain</b><br>
CDS International, Inc. has extended the deadline for the Summer
Internship Program in Spain. This program provides an opportunity for
students to gain international work experience, improve Spanish
language skills, and experience Spanish culture firsthand. Participants
complete unpaid three-month internships in companies across Spain.
Students must be U.S. or Canadian citizens, between the ages of 19-25,
and have studied 2 years of post-secondary Spanish. See website for

<b>Internships in Australia and New Zealand through AustraLearn</b><br>
(June 3-August 15) AustraLearn provides internship placement for
qualified applicants in Australian or New Zealand companies &
organizations through it's summer "PDAC" (Professional Development for
Academic Credit). Almost all academic fields/majors are available.<br>

Hampshire Exchange Spotlight: Mexico Solidarity Network</b><br>
This program offers Hampshire students the opportunity to spend a
semester traveling with the Mexico Solidarity Network studying critical
international grassroots alliances in the struggle for democracy,
sovereignty, and economic and political justice. The Mexico Solidarity
Network is committed to developing these grassroots alliances on both
sides of the US-Mexico border, and organizing to promote dialogue and
collective action for social change. Through MSN, students can
participate in a unique study abroad experience that will connect you
with other community activists struggling for change in Mexico.<br>
