<b>Hampshire in Berlin S'09 Interest Meeting</b><br>
Tuesday, October 30 @ noon (lunch served!)<br>
Interested in going to Berlin? Hampshire in Berlin is a program
organized by Hampshire faculty, and it includes intensive language
study, historical and architectural tours of Berlin, academic
excursions to Potsdam and other nearby sites and cities, and more. It
only runs every other spring semester; if you're interested in going,
the next trip will be in the spring 2009.<br>

<b>Dining Commons Info Table: Academic Programs International</b><br>
Wednesday, October 31 @ 11am-1pm<br>
Academic Programs International (API) hosts programs in Costa Rica,
France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain and the UK. Programs
are available both in English and also in the language of the host
country. Programs are available for quarter, semester, summer, and
academic year terms, as well as shorter two- or four-week terms. If
you're interested, come talk to a representative at this info table!<br>

Summer Programs in Germany</b><br>
UAS7, a consortium of seven leading German Universities of Applied
Sciences, has numerous programs available for summer 2008. Programs
range from one to five weeks in duration and are available in the
fields of Engineering, Science, Art & Design, Communication,
Business & Management, and German Language & Culture. All UAS7
Summer Programs are taught in English and offer additional German
classes, as well as a cultural program. The programs are also an
excellent way to improve a student's language skills prior to starting
a semester or year of undergraduate or graduate studies in Germany.<br>

<b>Summer Internships in Germany for Natural and Applied Sciences</b><br>
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) will again offer the RISE
(Research Internships in Science and Engineering) program for summer
2008. Scholarships are awarded to American and Canadian undergraduates
(RISE) and graduate students (RISE professional) in the fields of
biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences (geology), and
engineering. RISE undergrads have the opportunity to work on cutting
edge research projects at top research institutions and universities in
Germany. Students are paired with German PhD students in a unique
mentoring partnership to ensure immediate integration into hands on lab
work and built-in social network with an excellent opportunity to
develop new technical skills. RISE participants receive a scholarship
to cover living expenses.<br>

<b>Work/Study Scholarship Program in Germany</b><br>
The application deadline for the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for
Young Professionals (CBYX) is DECEMBER 1, 2007. CBYX is a unique
work/study scholarship program to Germany with a strong focus on
cultural exchange. The program gives participants an understanding of
everyday life, education, and professional training in Germany. The
program is designed for students in business, technical, vocational,
and agricultural fields, though students and young professionals from
all fields are encouraged to apply. Program includes two months of
intensive Germany language instruction, four months of field-specific
coursework, and a 5-month internship in the participant's career
field. Housing is with a German host or in a shared apartment. Many
expenses are covered through this scholarship.<br>

<b>ISEP Programs in Germany</b><br>
There are eight ISEP member universities in Germany, which means many
opportunities to study in Germany as an exchange student. All ISEP
programs count as an official Hampshire exchange, which means the cost
is very similar to what a semester at Hampshire would be for you.<br>

<b>IES European Union program in Freiburg, Germany</b><br>
IES has a few different programs in Germany, including the European
Union program. Designed for students studying economics, political
science, international relations, and international business, students
study the development and activities of the EU. Based in Freiburg,
Germany, the program also has field trips to important EU sites.
Students will meet leading academics, NGO and parliamentary
representatives, members of national governments, and official national
advisors on EU issues. Courses are taught in English with the
exception of German language courses for students of all levels
(including beginners). There are also some post-program internship
opportunities, mostly for students with advanced German language
proficiency, but there are also limited opportunities for English- or
French-language placements in Brussels. Program is available for a
semester or summer term.<br>
