Thanks everyone for subscribing to the GEO digest this year! We hope it
was helpful to you. Please let us know if you have any suggestions for
improving this digest in the future by replying to this email.
We'll start up regular digests again this fall. In the meantime, please
read the helpful information below:
* Studying abroad this summer?
* Studying abroad next spring?
* GEO is available this summer! (Also, check out our website!)
* Looking for some interesting reading? GEO has study abroad zines!
* Want to apply for a Fulbright, Rhodes, or Marshall scholarship?
We hope the semester ended (or is ending) well for you, and that you
have a completely fabulous summer, whatever it is that you're doing!
Best wishes,
The Global Education Office (GEO) staff

STUDYING ABROAD THIS SUMMER?
Coursework, language study, internships, volunteer work -- whatever it
is, GEO wants to hear about it! This information will be very helpful
to students looking to do something abroad in future summers.
Please remember to fill out GEO's "My Abroad Experience Report" when you
get back! It's found at: http://www.hampshire.edu/geo/returning.htm .
This is helpful both for GEO staff advising and also for students to
read if they're looking for interesting summer opportunities (or
opportunities they may want to avoid!). We'd love as little or as much
information as you'd like to give!

STUDYING ABROAD NEXT SPRING (2009)?
If you haven't already, research your options this summer BEFORE you
return this fall
-----------
GEO IS AVAILABLE THIS SUMMER!
GEO is here all summer and available to help you via phone, email, or
in-office meetings. Don't forget about these valuable resources to help
you:
Global Education Office (GEO):
x5542, geo at hampshire.edu, open regular hours all summer (but call before
coming just in case!)
GEO Website: http://geo.hampshire.edu
We've made a lot of additions, edits, and updates to our website over
the last year, so be sure to stop by and check it out! Here are just
SOME of the neat things you'll find:
* explanation of Hampshire's definition for Field Study & Exchange (and
how they work financially): http://www.hampshire.edu/geo/opportunities.htm
* information on all of Hampshire's Exchange Programs (both
international and in the U.S.):
http://www.hampshire.edu/geo/opportunities.htm
* resources regarding health & safety while abroad, getting passports &
visas, and some other useful websites:
http://www.hampshire.edu/geo/goabroad.htm
* resources for finding funding & scholarships:
http://www.hampshire.edu/geo/funding.htm
* blogs from students who have studied abroad or who are currently
studying abroad: http://www.hampshire.edu/geo/blogs.htm
* a brief annotated list of non-Hampshire programs that might be a good
fit for Hampshire students AND a list of search databases for finding
more non-Hampshire opportunities:

LOOKING FOR SOME INTERESTING READING?
GEO has some study abroad zines (Cáfe Abroad & Abroad View), with
numerous articles and photos by students who have studied abroad! Not
only is this a good way to read about the world and find out what you
might do while studying abroad, but it's something you should consider
after you study abroad!
We have so many copies, please come and take one!
-----------
WANT TO APPLY TO A FULBRIGHT, RHODES, OR MARSHALL SCHOLARSHIP?
If you're interested in applying to any of these for the 2009-2010
school year, contact Vanessa Paulman (in GEO) as soon as possible! (If
you're interested in just learning more but not applying right away, you
can also contact her at any time, including this summer, to get this
information!)
