inviting you to volunteer for a research study with the
purpose of learning
about the experiences of undergraduate students that
participate in massively
multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) and other
online multiplayer
games. This research is being done as
part of graduate program in public policy at the University of
Massachusetts

interested to learn about your experiences with online games
and how they fit
into your life. In many ways, the interviews
I have with participants will shape my future research. I am
fascinated by player experiences in
online games and I am eager to learn from your perspective.</span></font></p>

are welcome from any of the Five Colleges that are enrolled as

students and actively play an MMORPG or other online game. I
request an hour-long interview from each
participant. With permission, I will use
a tape recorder or notepad to record conversations. There are
no foreseeable risks to
participants in this study. I hope that
our discussions will encourage fruitful reflection on your
experiences in your
preferred gaming realm.</span></font></p>
