Hey all,

This email is to notify all interested parties about a new game I will be running over Jan Term. The game will be using Whitewolf's Exalted system, which is mostly the same as their World of Darkness systems, except from what I can tell more streamlined for combat, since the Exalted system is based more around combat that the World of Darkness. If you are interested in perusing the Exalted rulebook, drop by my room G-206 in the afternoon.

As for the game itself; I am throwing out the entirety of the Exalted world and using my own, as well as slightly modifying the system a bit. I am also running two one-shot games between Thanksgiving and December breaks to set up the storyline and familiarize myself with DMing and the Exalted system. For those of you who loathe combat: this game WILL be fairly combat-oriented, but the reason I chose Exalted is because I want combat to be, in a phrase, "fucking cool". There will also be a good deal of roleplaying too, so don't fret just because your character will be beating shit up often.

I'm trying to do something a bit different with this game, though. Since I want to include as many people in this game as possible, and I want the game to have kind of it's own life, rather than me trying to direct it, I'm drafting a bunch of different kinds of players. There will be two sets of players in the main PC party. The first set will be in from the start of the game, start off a bit weaker than the other set, but end the game a bit stronger. Also, these characters will be slightly more central to the plot. The second set (this set will be entering after Jan Term, so if you're not going to be here during Jan Term but still want to play, there is this option) will enter a few runs into the game, start off a bit stronger than the other set, and end the game a bit weaker. These characters will be slightly less central to the plot. I am taking three of the first PC set and probably two of the second, MAYBE three. However, I'm also drafting people to play NPCs in my game. I have two types of NPCs I would like played: the main "henchmen" of the bad guy (called Executioners), and one-time characters. The one-time characters would obviously be for people who wanted to make a guest appearance of sorts in this game for only one run every now and then. The Executioners, however, will be, for a lot of the game, the main foes of the PCs. If you are one of these guys, you will be a motherfucking badass, period. I am only taking three players for Executioners, so if you really want to play a bad guy, make sure to contact me ASAP.

In addition to being set up slightly differently than normal, this game will be run slightly different than normal as well. For the most part, the PC party will be in a world, and it will be completely up to them where to go and what to do. Needless to say, I would like people who are experienced roleplayers and will be able to decide what to do for themselves. However, the Executioners will be working under the same rules. At the end of each run, I will email the Executioners the information they need to know, ie, their orders and what they might have found out about the PCs and anything else, and they will email me back their plans of what they will do before next run. Needless to say, I would like people who are VERY experienced roleplayers to play the Executioners.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading this novel-length email, and I hope I can get a bunch of you for this game. BTW, don't be scared by me saying I want "experienced roleplayers" to play the PCs -- if you think you can handle being left by yourself in a world and deciding a plan of action and want to be in the game, by all means join the game. If anyone has any questions about anything, send me an email or find me in my room or in SAGA or whatever.
