Welcome to Excalibur (again)!
This semester we will be trying something new! Artemis
Bridge Commander Saturdays at 6PM, before the screenings in FPH ELH!
*Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator!*
Join the crew of the Artemis and travel the stars! Live life like a 'B'
scifi-movie! Adventure awaits!
*What is Artemis you ask? *(Gameplay video: http://youtu.be/72XhdVqDT1g)
"Artemis is a multiplayer, multi-computer networked game for Windows
computers.
Artemis simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computers
together. One computer runs the simulation and the "main screen", while the
others serve as workstations for the normal jobs a bridge officer might do,
like Helm, Communication, Engineering, and Weapon Control.
Artemis is a social game where several players are together in one room
("bridge") , and while they all work together, one player plays the
Captain, a person who sits in the middle, doesn't have a workstation, and
tells everyone what to do.
Artemis is a software game for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7." (

*So what do you DO in Artemis? What’s the mission?*
A: The Invasion Mode of Artemis lets you single-handedly save the space
stations in the sector from the invading ships. When starting the mission,
you can set many parameters of how the mission plays, like number of
enemies, overall difficulty, sector layout, mines, nebulas, etc. It's not
really like Star Trek where you have a series of challenges that form a
story.
*What should you bring?*
-Your Self
-A laptop* (Preferably running windows) (Mac users, please install Wine or
Windows in a VM, I can also provide a Ubuntu VM with Wine installed, but
things will go faster if you install Wine or Windows yourself ahead of time)
-Your laptop CHARGER, dead batteries are no fun.
*If you don't have a laptop come anyway we can switch off who is playing.
*If you have more then one laptop it would be great to have
spares, especially if they run windows!
Optionally:
-A mouse makes many of the systems easier to run
-A joystick, I will bring one but if there are more than 6 of us a second
would be great.
-Red Shirts
To SPACE!!
