Hey folks!

This week we will be watching Stargate (the original 1994 movie). and 
some more Red Darwf. 8PM ELH (so long as the Projector is working again).

Also I got an Email from a kindly person at Umass doing some grad 
research on MMORPGs and online gaming. He would like to use you all as 
guinea pigs. So if you Play MMORPGs, or online games email me and I'll 
pass your name on, or just email him (his details are below). His whole

*Invitation to Participate in a Research Study*

I am inviting you to volunteer for a research study with the purpose of 
learning about the experiences of undergraduate students that 
participate in massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) 
and other online multiplayer games.  This research is being done as part 
of graduate program in public policy at the University of Massachusetts 
Amherst.

I am interested to learn about your experiences with online games and 
how they fit into your life.  In many ways, the interviews I have with 
participants will shape my future research.  I am fascinated by player 
experiences in online games and I am eager to learn from your perspective.

Participants are welcome from any of the Five Colleges that are enrolled 
as undergraduate students and actively play an MMORPG or other online 
game.  I request an hour-long interview from each participant.  With 
permission, I will use a tape recorder or notepad to record 
conversations.  There are no foreseeable risks to participants in this 
study.  I hope that our discussions will encourage fruitful reflection 
on your experiences in your preferred gaming realm.

The narratives that I collect in this study will be used in a research 
paper for my Qualitative Research Methods class.  I will also present my 
finding to the class; however, the results will not be prepared for 
publication.  I will strictly maintain the confidentiality of all 
participants.  I am grateful for your participation.  You may withdraw 
from this study at any time.
