Well, for all of you have been bemoaning the spam that has been coming out of
the Excalibur list, we think we've dealt with most of it.
Anyway, this week, Excalibur brings you:
8:00-The Black Cauldron. If there's a major Disney animated feature you didn't
see, this is probably it. This is one Disney seemed to want to forget, keeping
out of the video stores because it was "too scary." Based on the popular Lloyd
Alexander novel, this fantasy film was the first disney feature animation to
receive a PG rating. In it, a youth named Taran must find an object of
incredible power before it falls into the hands of the evil Horned King.
9:45- Pitch Black. If you've seen the previews for that strange looking science
fiction film "The Chronicles of Riddick," well, it's the sequel to this movie.
A slick little genre movie, well-made, exciting, starring a then up and coming
Vin Diesel (Don't worry, he's good in this). Premise: A rag-tag bunch of folks
crash land on a planet where night is about to fall for the first time in
years. The trouble is, the horrible beasties that live under the surface are
about to come out, and they're hungry.
We'll be in the MERRILL HOUSE LIVING ROOM this week. Right across the way from
where we usually watch.
And next week, our end of the semester event. On Saturday, May 1st, in Franklin
Patterson East Lecture Hall and 108, Excalibur is hosting a little shindig.
We're expanding on our sorta-annual tradition of Cthulhu Night. Starting at
8pm, we'll be hanging out, chatting, watching movies, playing DDR, and eating
some tasty snacks. More activities will be forthcoming, but the main one will
begin around 9:30. We'll all march out side and do our level best at covering
the Hampshire campus with Cthulhu(in chalk form)! Horrible incantations, human
sacrifices, elder gods, mind-shattering monsters, and tentacles going every
which way. We'll provide the chalk, you provide the talent. 5-college and other
assorted folk more than welcome. More information as it develops. Tell your
friends!
