Hello, all. This week is sort of a "We know you probably missed it at Pleasant
St. Theater last year" kinda thing.

At 8pm, we got Mulholland Dr., the latest movie from that sublime cinematic
whacko, David Lynch. As I understand it, this movie was originally intended to
be a pilot for a TV series, but the execs balked. So this movie is fragmented,
confusing, and without a real ending that you can put your finger on.

It's also incredibly, incredibly compelling (and disturbing)

It concerns two women who might be each other, or someone else. It has magic
boxes, and mysterious gangsters. It's also a bit longer than our usual fare so
the next film will be...

The Devil's Backbone, at 10:30. This film was directed by Blade 2's Guillermo
del Toro, but you would never know to see it. It is a wonderfully atmospheric
ghost story, but weaves in other diverse elements like historical drama,
unrequited love, and hidden gold.

see you there!
