Dear Students,
Welcome back! I hope your semester is off to a good start.
As the new coordinator of the Five College Coastal and Marine Science
Program, I look forward to facilitating your study and exploration of
marine science. I am here to help you find internship, work, and
volunteer opportunities. I invite you to peruse the program's website at
www.fivecolleges.edu/sites/marine. Also, be on the lookout for the
October newsletter.
In the meantime, there are several events next week co-sponsored by the
FCC&MS Program:
On Friday the 29th, Dr. Stan Rachootin from Mount Holyoke College will
present "Charles Darwin tackles species and diversity (and puts the
results on a shelf)" as part of the UMass Organismic and Evolutionary
Biology Series. The talk starts at 4:00pm in 319 Morrill Science Center
2. Refreshments at 3:45.
There is also a Sea Education Association info session on Thursday the
28th. Gary Jaroslow, SEA Associate Dean, will tell you how to put
yourself aboard a tall ship. Find out how you can earn 17 credit hours
learning about oceanography, nautical science, and maritime studies.
12:10-1:00 pm at Smith College, Bass 102. Lunch is provided.
Co-sponsored by the Smith Environmental Science and Policy program.
I look forward to seeing you at these events.
