Dear Colleagues,

Dr Roger Hanlon (http://hermes.mbl.edu/mrc/hanlon/) will be
participating in a panel discussion entitled, "In the Octopus'’s
Garden” —- A Conversation about Art, Science, and Science Fiction" from
5-7pm on Thursday (3/27) in the lobby of the Fine Arts Center. The event
is co-sponsored by the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Natural
History Collections and celebrates an exhibition by artist in residence
Katy Schimert entitled, "Camouflage, Ink and Science."
https://fac.umass.edu/UMCA/Online/KatySchimert.

Dr Hanlon's lab at the MBL investigates the behavior of cephalopods and
other marine organisms at the organismal level. Currently he uses
molecular, cellular and ecological approaches to focus on the highly
interdisciplinary subject of camouflage and the visual perception
processes that are involved. You may recall that he gave a fantastic OEB
seminar a couple of years ago, and I'm sure this will be a fascinating
panel discussion.

I hope you can attend and please spread the word to colleagues and students!

Betsy
