Hi Community Advocacy Student Staff --

Mark your calendars now for the third Community Advocacy Student Staff 
Meeting:

Friday, 16 April
noon - 1pm with lunch
at the Lebron-Wiggins-Pran Cultural Center

At the last meeting, the group brainstormed ideas for interest day 
activities related to Community Advocacy for new student orientation. 
These are listed at the end of this email.

See you on the 16th for business, community building, and enjoyment. In 
the meantime, any ideas/issues/call for program help/advertising 
programs, please USE this listserve!

INTEREST DAY IDEAS for New Student Orientation:
• Community Advocacy “sampler” day - with a different workshop/activity 
at each center
• Have a joint art project - create something together (large doodle 
that everyone can participate in?) Arts/crafts
• Something action oriented that it's not about receiving more information
• Service Day? Be able to give something right from the beginning 
(campus cleanup, planting, painting, specific project like cleaning up 
the community garden in doing a fall planting -greenhouse mod project, 
project on the farm?
• Paint mural at one of the centers (CHC/QCA, etc)
• Off-campus day of volunteering (Dakin/Habitat For Humanity/Survival 
Center, etc)
• Strengthen the engaging with the community portion of orientation. 
Integrate Community Advocacy issues so they are throughout orientation 
and not optional activities.
