[Clusterusers] request for CPU time

I've also just stopped the run I had taking over one node (compute-1-17) and un-nimbyed it, and I see that it's starting to take other jobs (Tom's, as it turns out). I can get by with the big mac on my desk for now, but let me know when the rush is over.

I'm writing because I am about to finish writing a paper for a conference, due on December 20th (Friday of next week), and I could use as many CPU cycles as I can get. Right now the processes that tend to run are taking 30-45 minutes, as opposed to the 15-20 minutes that they often take. I'm not sure if others are working on a deadline too, but would it be possible for others to wait until after the 20th to start new jobs? It would make a difference. Of course, I do realize that everyone might have deadlines right now, in which case we should all carry on as we are.
